Fund Update: September 2025

The Anne Germond Legacy Fund (AGLF) continues to grow in strength, thanks to the generosity of parishes and individuals across the Diocese of Algoma. As of September 2025, the Fund has raised nearly $1.15 million. Since our last report, more than $30,000 in new donations have been received, with contributions coming from both congregations and individuals who share a vision for the future of episcopal ministry in Algoma.

Among the recent highlights was a remarkable $25,000 gift from The Church of the Epiphany, Sudbury, a milestone contribution that demonstrates both faith and foresight. In addition, gifts totaling more than $5,000 were received from St. Christopher’s, McGregor Bay; St. Paul’s, Wawa; St. Mary’s, Nipigon; St. Peter the Apostle, Elliot Lake; Church of the Redeemer, Thessalon; St. Michael & All Angels, Thunder Bay; and Holy Trinity, Sault Ste. Marie.

St. Paul’s Wawa parishioner Bev Boyd presents Archbishop Anne Germond with a cheque to the Anne Germond Legacy Fund.

“These offerings, whether large or small, speak volumes about the love and commitment of our people,” said Archbishop Anne Germond. “I am deeply moved by the generosity of our parishes and people. Every gift to the Anne Germond Legacy Fund is an act of faith in the future of episcopal ministry in Algoma. Your kindness and commitment ensure that the work of teaching, preaching, and shepherding will remain strong for generations to come.”

In addition to these encouraging financial developments, the AGLF Committee is pleased to share a new resource for those interested in exploring Algoma’s history. Algoma 100: A Documentary Commemorating the Centennial of the Diocese of Algoma (1974) has been digitized and is now available at anneslegacyfund.ca. Written to mark the Diocese’s centennial, this volume remains the most recent published history of Algoma and provides valuable insight into the people, parishes, and bishops who have shaped our diocesan story.

The Anne Germond Legacy Fund is a tangible expression of the Diocese’s commitment to honouring Archbishop Anne’s ministry and ensuring that episcopal leadership, formation, and care for future generations remain strong.
